National football team Harambee Stars registered a massive rise in the latest FIFA rankings released, moving 43 steps ahead. The stars are now ranked number 86 in the latest list released by the world football governing body. This is due to an improvement from position 129 that Kenya was ranked according to the statistics conducted in month of June.
 It was not only victory to the Kenyan coach Stanley Okumbi but also Kenya fans who had a reason to smile and celebrate again as national team which they describe it as the sleeping giant with potential to excel ranked position 86.

Strange Football Rules You Probably Never Knew About

Football is a game most Kenyans love and we can confidently say that whenever there is a match almost all the 40 million Kenyans are coaches but do we even know the rules?

---

  Here are 8 of them.

1. Referees Can Be Substituted

For most of our lives that we’ve watched football, it is not common to see a referee being subbed but in the Fifa soccer rules, this is accepted. If a referee is unable to continue with the match, he can be subbed with an assistant referee to take over the match.

2. The Coach Can Play For The Team If He Wants To

Many might not know this but a coach is part of the team and can sub a player and step on the pitch to play. A typical example is with Gianluca Vialli who used to play for Juventus and later coached Chelsea, he was still capable of playing and so usually subbed himself when the need arises for him to step in. So don’t be surprised when one day a coach decides to play for his team.

3. Linesmen Can Issue Cards

The assistant coach is supposed to inform the referee of offenses which happened on his blind side and decide whether to give a card. If the referee gives the mandate to the linesman, he can issue a card based on what he saw, but the responsibility lies on the referee to give the assistant referee the go ahead according to the Fifa Rule 6.

4. A player cannot be offside from a goal kick, corner or throw-in

During goal kick, corner or throw-in, even if the player is in an off-side position, it is not counted. This has caused many teams goals when they assume it is an off-side and it takes them by surprise.

5. A substitute cannot take a corner or a throw-in to restart the match

When a ball goes out for a throw-in and the team decides to sub a player, the new player who just stepped in cannot take the throw to restart the match. You probably never knew this right?

6. It is illegal for a goalkeeper to roll his sleeves up

A goalkeeper is allowed to wear long sleeves due to their role but one thing they cannot do is to roll the sleeves up to form a short sleeve, they can be given a card for that.

7. A goalkeeper can’t pick the ball up again after he has let it out of his possession until another player has touched it

After catching a ball, a goalkeeper can’t pick the ball up again if he decides to drop it until another player has touched it. If he disobeys, he will receive a card, it is either for him to kick it or allow another player to pass it back to him before he can pick it up again.

8. A linesman can officiate a match

It is absolutely legal for an assistant coach to take over the match and officiate if the referee can’t continue with the match, so basically a linesman is also a referee who can do everything the main referee does.

9. If the referee doesnt notice a foreign object, play continues regardless of whether it intervenes.

If a foreign object enters the field the referee can stop the game to remove it, but if the referee hasn't noticed the foreign object until it actually affects play then it's too late and the interference has to stand. Such as back in 2009 when Sunderland beat Liverpool courtesy of well executed finish from a beach ball. Another example was when Sheffield United had some help from a balloon when they knocked Manchester City out of the FA Cup in 2008. While Paul Peschisolido scored for Derby against Nottingham Forest in 2004 after Barry Roche misjudged a back-pass that took a deflection off an unhelpful coffee cup.

10. If a player does a trick to avoid a back-pass its an automatic booking.

If a player does a trick to avoid a back-pass such as flicking the ball up with his foot and heading it back to the keeper, it is a yellow card offense. Even if the keeper doesn't pick it up it's still a booking as the player has already committed the offence.

11. English game differs.

And finally, it's worth noting that there is a slight difference in the interpretation of the law by the English FA and the rest of the worlds footballing community concerning challenging a goalkeeper. In the Bundesliga, Serie A, League 1 etc. it is an offence to impede the goalkeeper once he has jumped in the air. whereas this rule isn't implement in the English game. A good example of this was when Sol Campbell scored a 90th minute 'goal' against Portugal at Euro 2004. There was outrage in England about the goal that would of surely stood in the Premier League but no where else was this even a talking point as Campbell had clearly impeded the Goalkeepers jump.

Muhammad Ali, arguably the greatest boxer of all time passed away at the age of 74 at a Phoenix, Arizona hospital on Friday, June 3,2016.

Lionel Messi on Monday, 27th June announced his retirement from international duty after missing in a penalty shootout as Argentina lost a fourth major final in nine years.
      
"It's not meant for me. For me the national team is over. Argentina and Manchester city goalkeeper Sergio Romero said he hoped Messi would "reflect" on his decision and reconsider, adding: I think he spoke while he was heated, because a beautiful opportunity escape us. I can't imagine a natural team without Messi.". Manchester city forward Sergio Arguero describe the mood in the Argentina dressing room as “the worst I've ever been in”, and he also said "there are several players who are evaluating not continuing with the national team"

It's a blood-stained rivalry as Spain tackle Italy

Monday’s meeting of Mediterranean superpowers brings together familiar enemies, it will be the sixth time Italy have met Spain at the finals of the European Championship, making it the most played fixture in the contest.

Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini recognises the shift in momentum and says that it is now Spain who are Italy’s “bogey team”.

ANOTHER TRIBUTE TO MOHAMED ALI " A MULTI CHAMPION"

The American boxing Legend Mohamed Ali passed away on 3rd June at the age of 74. Ali born Casseus Marcellus led a life worth celebrating and his name will remain alive over generations. Ali was not only a sports champion but also an icon in the fight against racism, human rights and protects his religion. Apart from being the only world’s three time lineal world Heavyweight Champion, Ali has left a legacy in several fields.

Casseus Marcellus was named after his father but he converted into Islam and changed his name to Mohamed Ali in 1975. His first expression of strong Muslim Faith was when he refused to be conscribed into the American army to fight in the Vietnam. He was quoted saying that war was against the Holy Quran unless declared by Allah, and he cannot take part in a war against Christians or non-believers.

Out of the ring, Ali was in the forefront in fighting racism and uniting blacks. Again in terms of joining the army to fight the Vietnam, this is what Ali said, ""My conscience won't let me go shoot my brother, or some darker people, or some poor hungry people in the mud for big powerful America. And shoot them for what? They never called me nigger, they never lynched me, they didn't put no dogs on me, they didn't rob me of my nationality, rape or kill my mother and father.... How can I shoot them poor people? Just take me to jail. "
In 1980, Ali landed in Tanzania in a Diplomatic Mission to lobby Tanzanian to boycott the 1980 Summer Moscow Olympics in order retaliate against Russia's invasion of Afghanistan. The Mission however failed because president Nyerere never turned up to meet him.

Mohamed Ali was also very influential through his speeches, articles, films and music. His most memorable speech was entitled Black is Black which he made to Howard University students. He also composed an album of spoken word in 1963 called I am the Greatest and a song Stand by Me in 1964 and his autobiography The Greatest, My own Story.

The world will wait for several years to find another icon like Him. A man who has been a vessel to fight for human rights, protecting them and being ready for what comes his way. His heart full of sympathy for humans and easy to fight for.

Muhammad Ali was not only a boxing champion, he was a championship talker. The following are some quotations from Ali:

Are you tired of how people take advantage of your caring trait? Do you find yourself enslaved to anyone who is willing to have you in their life? The fear of upsetting people always steer your thoughts into the direction that let them benefit from it more than you did. That fear is what causes you to say sorry way too much often. It’s what caused you to go to college even though you didn't want to, it caused you to get a degree in something you didn't want because your parents told you to. It’s what causes you to drag out a relationship you secretly wished ended months ago. This is what causes you to stay in the job you hate and get paid the wage that you didn’t like. How exhausting is having to constantly put others before yourself and how little reward you get at the end of it?

You have heard the phrase "you teach people how to treat you" but you've ignored it so far. May be its because when you did try to stand for yourself it always seemed to have backfired as they yelled, cried, cursed your name and swear to never forgive you.This scared you right? And since you are too concerned and so caring about other people's feeling you gave up. You might have finally snapped and told others to let you be which they deserved to hear only to find yourself being labelled as too aggressive.Well dear who gives a damn?Who realy cares what  others think or say?Let me just remind you-it should not be you.

Sometimes people need to hear what they need to hear without that sweetness in your tone.This is what we call setting healthy boundaries.Try it and you will see how good it feels. Not the snapping part, but for expressing your true feeling. From that, people will start to show you more respect.They will start taking you less for granted too.

Make yourself comfortable with being with you. Get to know yourself, what makes you happy and what interest you.Be selfish.Now it's time for you to show them how selfish you can really be when taking care of yourself.Acting upon your own interest  is not being insensitive to others it's simply living your life.

Do not apologize for the change. Ever, do not go over in your head, how u should have reacted differently, how you shouldn't have said what you said and so on. Stop it! The acceptance of your peer and loved ones is a luxury and not your responsibility. Your responsibility is to make yourself proud and happy. The rest is for them to realize your worth.,

I’m not suggesting you stop caring about other people but you should first care about yourself.

PSG in talks with Jose Mourinho as Manchester United watch

French Ligue 1 club PSG are in talks with the representatives of former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, in an attempt to lure the fiery Portuguese as their new manager.

After bowing out of the champions league, PSG manager Laurent Blanc tenure as the manager has became shaky.
PSG see the Portuguese as the man to win them the champions league as well as compete with the best in Europe.

Manchester United have been interested in bringing  Mourinho to Old Trafford, but are yet to hold talks with former Chelsea manager.
The club have under performed this season under Dutchman Louis Van Gaal and are in serious threat of missing champions league football next season.
Manchester United Executive Vice-Chairman to wait until United’s challenge for a top-four place and FA Cup run is over.

Mourinho is one of the most successful managers in world football apart from winning several league titles in Portugal, Italy, Spain and England, he has also enjoyed success in the European stage.

Mourinho has twice won the Champions League Cup at Porto in 2004 and Internazionale Milan in 2010.

The Kenya Premier League kicked off after seeing the defending champions Gor Mahia go unbeaten throughout the season and Gor’s dominance was surely felt in the fanaticism world. This season has witnessed great tussle for the title after the transfers that saw key players moving from one club to the other and the more profound one was when they lost their most valuable player alias Kenya’s “Pogba ”Michael Olunga from Gor Mahia to Djurgarden
Gor Mahia started their title campaign on a low note and have had a winless run in six encounters which led to the resignation of Coach Frank Nuttall and his assistant Frank Ouna.
Gor Mahia’s new coach Jose Marcelo Ferreira who was officially unveiled in Nairobi on a one-year contract after contacting his first training session on Tuesday. Ferreira oversaw the entire morning training session with the help of the team captains and the team manager Jolawi Abondo.
In his playing career, Ferreira won bronze with Samba boys at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. He also won the Copa America and the confederation cup in 1997.

English Premier League is one of the most popular leagues on the globe basing on the fanaticism experienced all over the world. In the recent past, we witnessed the cohorts or categories of teams that were considered “big” and “others” but seemingly we are experiencing an error where we have teams that do not relate so much with their histories and their places on the table. Teams that got promoted to Premier League were always seen struggling in their performance and many would be relegated or escape relegation by a whisker.
Things have changed and we have witnessed the likes of Watford and Leicester city having great impacts on the league standings and this has raised questions while at the same time breaking the monopoly of some teams dominating the league.
Leicester’s amazing title charge has been fabulous and they seemingly stand a better chance of being crowned as champions owing to the fact that their competitors, Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester city lack consistency in the pursuit of the league glory.
Marcel Desailly, former Chelsea captain, gives fascinating insight into Ranieri’s coaching methods and claims that his old boss is desperate to prove a point to English football because he was sacked by Chelsea in 2004 to pave way for Jose Mourinho. Ranieri’s mission is half complete after seeing Mourinho axed earlier this season as a result of poor performance and specifically having lost 2-0 to Leicester city at Kings Power. It was Ranieri’s chance to win the league with Chelsea in 2004 but lost to the then invincible Arsenal which led to his sacking .Now, he has got his revenge and he is going to go on and win the league according to the former Chelsea captain. Ingawa dereva wa Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel amesisitiza kuwa Mercedes ndio mabingwa wa sasa kabla ya shindano la Grand Prix, Hamilton ameonya kuwa Ferrari almaarufu "Scuderia" watadhibitisha ubabe wao.
Kampuni ya Ferrari, hata hivyo, haijatoa taarifa yoyote kuhusiana na uwezo wao wa kung'aa katika Grand Prix kule Melbourne, lakini bingwa wa Formula 1, Louis Hamilton anahisi kwamba kampuni hiyo inajidunisha kwa hiari.
