Video: Two Kplc Workers Electrocuted In Nakuru While Working On A Power Line



Two employees of Kenya Power and Lightening Company (KPLC) were electrocuted while repairing a faulty power line in Nakuru.

In a video recorded by a passerby showing the workers being hit by high voltage currents as people scream all around.

Communication breakdown was sighted as the cause of the problem, as the power was still switched on while the two were working.

KPLC released a statement on its Twitter handle confirming the incident and status of the two workers.

In the tweet KPLC said the workers were taken to the hospital and are still alive and investigations have started to find out caused the unfortunate incident in Nakuru.

Kenya Power General Manager for Network Management, Daniel Tare, said the injured technicians were involved in the installation of a large power outdoor meter and were rushed to a Nakuru hospital following the mishap.

“They are in a stable condition and communicating,” Tare said.

KPLC also suspended the contractor involved for being at the site illegally as he endangered the lives of the two injured workers.

The workers were repairing the line next to Ashok Leyland in Nakuru on Saturday, April 2.

According to sources the two were rescued by a team from KPLC which switched off the power before taking them to hospital.
