Just some years back, I used to reason that players have no time to fall in love or even for women; to me their main interest I thought was always in football. But last year I came to realize that most women are attracted to them when I started showing my interest in football; men’s weakness for women is known right from the bible stories. Women being attracted to men therefore, ring only one bell in my mind which displayed a picture of football players as one of the most active team Mafisi in the world of polygamy being practiced before marriage. The player’s sex life is always wanting when searched in details. But then, last summer the former Manchester United winger Chris Eagles proved me wrong when his fiancĂ©e Danielle went through the heartbreaking tragedy of their lives.
Chris Eagles despite all the girls which were still eyeing him decided to drop the Mafisi team and selected one girl, Danielle. They have been married for more than two years, Danielle was pregnant with his child and everything was going on well with both the parents and the baby. A child or children as we know are blessings from God which all are willing to receive, and the couples, just like any other, were eagerly waiting to receive their blessing; they were expecting a son whom they have already gave a name as Mason, but one thing they forgot is that “Gods plans and thoughts are far different from ours, He knows our present and future and everything we do or plan to do should always be surrendered unto Him. He is always to be first in everything we do”.
Danielle was almost 29 weeks pregnant when suddenly, she noticed that Mason
(Their son) had stopped breathing. This made the couples to be suspicious of something amiss and they decided to visit their doctor as they were not sure of what they suspected.
Their worst nightmare was then confirmed by the doctor as it was discovered that the baby had passed on. The message despite the couples suspecting it shocked them and brought sadness upon their small growing family, Chris due to unbearable pain, was forced to view his feelings to the public, and this is what he said, “the moment was soul-destroying, especially considering the fact that we had already prepared for the coming of our little angel”. The player was then prompted to start plans of setting up his own charity to raise money for maternity wards which he believes will help women and girls to have access to the high quality maternal health care to enable them give birth easily.
Britain according to the research findings is having the highest rates of still-born in the developed worlds. This has made the player optimistic that his story will encourage worldwide talking about similar tragedies rather than suffering in silence. In Kenya it’s Corruption. The player is encouraging us to stand for ourselves by speaking out and sharing our feeling with people we care about especially if it’s something you can’t deal with alone. For example here in Kenya, let’s view our ideas on corruption publicly without holding anything back and come up with ideas to control it if we can’t stop it. It is our country, lets fight as one.
