A HAIRSBREADTH DEATH SEEPAGE

By MAINA George

A first year student escaped death narrowly on Monday night after he was involved in money laundering of another comrade through M-pesa. The comrade transferredKshs3980 to his M-shwari account from the M-pesa account though the money was not his. His friend borrowed his mobile phone to borrow money online from an online lending agent branch international which is inform of a mobile agent branch international which is in form of a mobile application where one logs in using Facebook and they start accessinginstant loans as much as Kshs 50000
After the plaintiff borrowedthe money, he was given a loan of Ksh 4000 but the accused used that chance to steal the money without the knowledge of the other comrades. He bought airtime worth Ksh 20 through the M-pesa and placed a Sport-pesa bet double chance of Kshs 90. The other amount, Kshs 3980 deposited to his M-shwari account and deleted all the messages regarding the transactions. The other comrade waited to receive his loan only to check online and that’s when he discovered something fishy was happening as he had been awarded a loan of Kshs 4000. He badgered the comrade to give him his money but the pleas fell on deaf ears
At around 1000h things turned sour since he refused to let the money go. The comrade was asked his M-pesa pin but input the wrong pin seven times and hence his line was blocked. He refused to give back the money and hence blows would work. He was lynched almost to death by a myriad of comrades. Later, security guards came to save his life after an hour of persistent beatings. Things changed to worse when the guards arrived; comrades yelled at them and they beat the accused evenmore which led to firing in the air. This attracted attention from all the dwellers of SOWETO hostels.
Residence of hostel J sprawled out of their hostels shouting at the top of their voices as they thought there was an attack. Some blabbermouths from that hostel came outside half-naked as they screamed “Al-shabaab” which drew all the comrades' attention. The multitudinous fracas paved way for the accused to run away towards the SOWETO market. Ironically, he was helped to escape by the plaintiff since he thought the curse would follow him in case the accused was killed.
Comrades were armed with all kinds of weapons including knives and even “kamatas” to teach the comrade a lesson. However, the security guards are said to have arrested a wrong comrade mistakenly of the accused who ran away.
Speaking to the legacy reporter, the plaintiff and the accused resolved to address the issue to ease the unrest. The rowdy comrades who ran after the accused towards hostel K, went back to SOWETO chanting war songs “tumeuanatutaua” promising to deal with the comrade once he emerges from his hideout.
