Muhammad
Ali, arguably the greatest boxer of all time passed away at the age of
74 at a Phoenix, Arizona hospital on Friday, June 3,2016.
“After
a 32-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, Muhammad Ali has passed away
at the age of 74. The three-time World Heavyweight Champion boxer died
this evening,” says Bob Gunnell, a family spokesman.
In
1980, Muhammad Ali visited Kenya on behalf of US President, Jimmy
Carter in a bid to convince the country to boycott the 1980 Olympics in
Moscow, Russia. Following Russia’s invasion of Afghanistan.
He met
with President Moi at State House, and fought an exhibition bout with
Muhammed Abdullah Kent of Kenya as the crowd kept chanting ‘Ali! Ali!
Ali!’
