QUAGMIRE IN MERU LEADERSHIP

Jesus said, "You cannot remove a speck from your brothers eye when you have a log in your own eye." But I say, "The authenticity in Kiraitu Murungi's claim that he can do Munya's best better is nil." Senator Kiraitu Murungi is blathering in Meru with an intention of hoodwinking the people of Meru. His conspiracy to execute grand corruption and tolerate the siphoning of money from the county kitty is known. It therefore makes little or no sense for a pot to call a kettle black.

There are many development problems bedeviling the people of Meru County. For instance, they are suffering from poor service delivery, poor facilities, lack of water and other vital necessities that are needed to ease their burdens in life. Kiraitu seems baffled seeing Kinoru Stadium in ruins, learning of hundreds of millions of development funds unaccounted for, learning of the ECD classroom that has been constructed at a tune of 1.2 million by the County Government up from the initial construction cost of Ksh 450,000.

The probate road in Meru now cost 49 million shillings per kilometer up from 30 million and not forgetting the alleged 7 million worth of curtains. The fraud in the county government has reached unprecedented levels and should not be condoned anymore. However, it is wrong for Senator Kiraitu to eye the Meru gubernatorial seat come 2017 while ignoring his main duty of keeping the county government on check and the governor accountable.
In the due course, does he expect the people of Meru to continue suffering in the hands of Peter Munya until August 2017? What steps has he taken to ensure that the corruption cartels in the county government are brought to book? Kiraitu too has failed his people.
Fellow comrades, lets be honest, the constitution of Kenya and the rule of law are in expectation that a senator should raise such cases of corruption in the Senate House to be probed by the Senatorial Committee in charge of corruption issues or report to the EACC for further investigation. However, when Kiraitu doesn't do any of these and only depicts his interest in kicking out Governor Peter Munya, it clearly shows that his claim that he can do better than Munya is not bonafide. It only shows how jealous he is over the wielding of the county powers bearing in mind the huge funds allocated for the county.
"I Kiraitu Murungi officially declare that, after much consultation with the people of Meru, l have decided that come 2017 I shall run for the position Meru County Governor. Munya has done his best but I can do his best better, declared Kiraitu.
However, while reading the comments of the Meru people, in reaction to Kiraitu's declaration, l was astonished. Out of the seventeen comments l read, none was a positive criticism. Some people hurled abuses while others questioned Kiraitu's integrity. Majority claimed that Kiraitu is a clever corrupt cartel who isn't driven by the interest of the people but by the county wealth. This also must stop. Common sense must go ahead of politics.
